15,448 KILOMETERS OF PASSION FOR ESTEPONA

There are things that don’t show up in a team’s season standings. And one of those is the passion for a team, as demonstrated by Pepe Rivas, his friend Silvestre, and—most of the time—his friends Mariana, his daughter-in-law Toñi, and his granddaughter Mari.

They don’t show up in the player statistics, they don’t score points, and they don’t appear on the scoreboard (though they do show up on their car’s odometer).

The care with which they plan their trip—always taking into account the time the CD Estepona bus will arrive at the stadium—ensures they aren’t alone upon arrival and that the team feels the close presence of such distinguished fans.

They have earned the affection of the players, the coaching staff, and everyone who makes up the club. It’s not just the trips they take to follow their team wherever it goes, but also their presence at every team practice. It’s living for and because of their team.

Pepe Rivas, a friendly and calm man. An excellent driver, he is the leader and driving force behind this group of friends created by and for the sole purpose of always being by the side of the team they love.

Pepe and Silvestre appear calm, though they’re nervous on the inside. The women, more passionate, are always cheering on the players and voicing their disagreements with the referees and opponents. They are the happiest during victories and, let’s face it, the ones whose sadness is most evident during defeats.

This season, CD Estepona will travel approximately 15,448 kilometers on their away trips, counting round-trip journeys from the Francisco Muñoz Pérez Stadium. More than fifteen thousand kilometers on the road. It’s worth noting that there will also be trips from the Málaga airport and flights to the Canary Islands, as three Canarian teams make up CD Estepona’s group this season in the 2RFEF.

They will follow the team through Andalusia, Extremadura, and the Canary Islands during the 2026–27 season, which—although it began two weeks ago—the travel season begins tomorrow for the passionate red-and-white fanbase.

And they’ll be doing so for each and every match the team plays away from Muñoz Pérez Stadium, traveling thousands of kilometers and covering all the expenses involved in each trip out of their own pockets.

No sponsors, no financial aid, and nothing needed other than their own desire to be with the team. Because for Pepe, it doesn’t matter how far away, who the opponent is, or where the game is played. If CD Estepona is playing, he’ll be there with his inseparable friend Silvestre—and surely his friends Mariana, Toñi, and Mari will be there too.

It’s the most beautiful display of love for the team’s colors. And that, too, is what it means to be part of a club—as we know they are considered to be.

When the schedule calls for an away game, they don’t ask how far away it is. They organize departure times, hotels if needed, and places to stop for gas and meals.

It doesn’t matter if it’s Marbella, Lucena, Linares, Huelva, Badajoz, or Don Benito. It doesn’t matter if they have to get up early, spend hours on the road, or plan a getaway to catch a flight to the Canary Islands. If Estepona is playing, they’ll be there.

Because cheering on your team when they play at the Muñoz Pérez is easy. What’s truly special is doing it when you have to leave home. When the alarm goes off in the early morning, when there are hundreds of kilometers ahead, and when you know you’ll probably come back tired—and often sad—because the team didn’t win.

And yet, they’ll do it all over again for the next away game—and they’ve been doing this for several seasons now.

CD Estepona will travel 15,448 kilometers. Pepe and his crew will do whatever it takes. Because there are fans who just follow the results, and there are others—like Pepe and his group—who follow the team wherever they play.

Kilometer by kilometer, stadium by stadium, game by game.
