THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER

This month we have to carry out the mission set by Manolo Sánchez.
Some movie titles seem tailor-made for certain occasions. And this October, looking at CD Estepona’s schedule, it’s hard not to think of Sean Connery and that legendary movie, The Hunt for Red October.
Except here, we don’t have a nuclear submarine. We have a crest, a red jersey, and four games ahead of us.
The month has already kicked off with an important victory over Don Benito at our stadium (3-1). Next up is Atlético Central. Next, we’ll visit our neighbors in Marbella, and to wrap up this stretch, we’ll return to our Francisco Muñoz Pérez Stadium to host Ciudad de Lucena.
That’s the path ahead for Estepona during a month that could mean much more than it seems. A month that could help us take off—and who knows—become the start of a beautiful story in this 2026–27 season.
Our coach, Manolo Sánchez, seems to have rediscovered the path he laid out for his players last season. Now it’s up to the players to follow it once again.
There’s no magic formula or script that guarantees a happy ending. There’s hard work, decisions, successes, and mistakes. And there’s a fan base that, as always, will be there to push the team forward, cheer them on, and never leave them alone.
Having three home games is a great opportunity—the kind we need to take advantage of. After that, there will be matchdays when we’ll have to travel, and playing on the road hasn’t exactly been a problem for us since we began our journey in the Second Federation five seasons ago.
But playing away from home always comes with an added challenge. We have to hold our own on tough fields, weather difficult moments, and know how to compete when things get really tough.
That’s why Francisco Muñoz Pérez has to become our ally. In our stronghold.** A field where no opponent finds it easy to take home points.
The stands will give it their all. And we’re sure this team will, too. So yes. This October, we’re going to play our very own Red October Hunt.
Let our coach don the captain’s uniform. Let the crew—our players—be ready. And let the submarine leave the harbor with a clear plan and a steady course.
The difference from Hollywood is that here, there won’t be a second take. There’ll be no chance to reshoot the scene if something goes wrong, so it has to go right the first time.
And hopefully, when the end of October rolls around, we’ll be able to look back and say that the movie was worth it—for the results, for the play, and for the way they competed.
