Some victories are just about earning three points.

And some victories also give you a chance to breathe a sigh of relief.

CD Estepona’s win over Don Benito was a bit of both.

A 3-1 victory.

The first home win of the season.

Two goals by Ariel Herrero.

And the feeling that Muñoz Pérez can once again be the place where the team finds its footing.

But soccer doesn’t wait.

Nor does it let you dwell too long on what just happened.

This Sunday, the competition resumes.

At 7:00 p.m.

CD Estepona hosts Club Atlético Central on Matchday 6 of the Segunda Federación.

An opponent playing its first season in the division.

A team that started with a win over Recreativo de Huelva, suffered two consecutive losses, bounced back against Sevilla Atlético, and just lost by the narrowest of margins to Linares Deportivo.

Estepona comes into the match having regained its confidence.

Central, meanwhile, is coming off a match where they came away empty-handed.

And between the two, there’s more at stake than just three points.

Estepona needs to prove that the victory over Don Benito wasn’t a one-off, but rather the start of a new momentum.

The Muñoz Pérez Celebrated Again

Last Saturday, Estepona won at home once more.

And that deserves more than just a result in the standings.

Because the team was coming off a loss to Tenerife B.

Because their first league match at Muñoz Pérez had ended in a scoreless draw against Xerez.

And because that was followed by a 1-4 loss to Linares Deportivo.

Two home games.

No wins.

Until Don Benito came along.

The 3-1 win also featured a special star.

Ariel Herrero scored a brace, both goals from the penalty spot.

The León-born forward opened his scoring account for the season and was once again decisive in a victory that carried added significance: Estepona secured its first home win much earlier than it did last season.

Last season, the team had to wait until January to win at home for the first time.

This time, the wait ended in October.

The difference is significant.

Not because a single victory allows for definitive conclusions.

But because winning in front of your home crowd changes the mindset going into the following week.

The team now knows it can win at the Muñoz Pérez.

Now it needs to turn that certainty into a habit.

Winning Isn’t Enough. We Need to Build on It

The result against Don Benito gave Estepona its second victory of the season, following the 0-2 win in Puente Genil.

But between those two wins, there was a loss in Tenerife.

And that is precisely the point.

Estepona has already shown that it can win on the road.

It has also shown that it can compete in tough matches.

And now it has managed to get its first home win.

The next step is to string together results.

It’s not about demanding that the team win every Sunday.

It’s about starting to build a recognizable trajectory.

A trajectory in which a victory isn’t an exception.

One in which a loss doesn’t force them to start over.

And one in which the team can rely on its own identity to overcome tough moments.

The schedule offers no respite.

After Atlético Central comes Marbella FC—again on the road.

That’s why Sunday’s match is important.

Not because Matchday 6 is going to decide a 34-game season.

But because Estepona has the opportunity to notch two consecutive wins and head into the next away game with renewed confidence.

And that, at this stage of the season, counts too.

An Opponent Making Its Debut in the Second Federation

Atlético Central is one of the new teams in Group IV.

The Seville-based team earned promotion last season and is now facing its first campaign in the Second Federation.

The move up a division has forced the club to strengthen its roster.

As the club itself announced in August, the team signed at least fourteen players to take on the new challenge.

The idea was to combine youth, promising players, and experience in national soccer.

Notable names include Álex Martínez and Fausto Tienza, both of whom have played in the First Division.

Also joining the team were José Romero, José Antonio Soler, Jaime de las Marinas, Nacho Sainz, José Pablo Condán, Jorge Ceballos, Hugo Pech, Nico Fernández, and Sergio Niza.

A revamped roster is ready to compete in a division that demands more consistency, greater depth, and fewer mistakes.

The head coach is Marcos Contreras, who faces the challenge of establishing the club in national soccer.

El Central does not arrive in Estepona with the accumulated experience of other historic teams in the division.

But it’s not arriving without its strengths either.

Its debut in the Second Federation offered a first glimpse of what it’s capable of.

And its subsequent results have shown that it’s still searching for the consistency needed to compete week after week.

From Beating Recreativo to Searching for Answers

Central’s start was promising.

On the first matchday, they defeated Recreativo de Huelva 2-0.

Sergio Niza and Álex Martínez scored the goals in a victory that allowed the Seville-based team to make its debut in the division in the best possible way.

But then came the difficulties.

In Tenerife, they lost 3-1.

A week later, they fell 4-1 to Marbella FC.

Two consecutive losses and seven goals conceded in just two matches.

The team needed to bounce back.

And they did just that against Sevilla Atlético.

El Central defeated Sevilla’s reserve team 2-0 and secured their second win of the season.

Juan Antonio was the star of the show with a brace.

El Central seemed to have found a solution.

However, last Sunday they were once again held scoreless.

Linares Deportivo won 0-1 at the Ciudad de Alcalá thanks to a goal by Montenegro in the 62nd minute.

The home team had chances to take the lead and pushed for the equalizer until the end, but they lacked the finishing touch.

That’s the state of Estepona’s upcoming opponent.

With two wins and three losses.

With six points to their credit.

And in need of another win to prevent their losses from taking a heavier toll than intended.

They’re not a team that’s completely down and out.

But neither are they one that can afford too many slip-ups.

And that combination could make them a particularly tough opponent.

Juan Antonio: The Name Estepona Must Keep an Eye On

In a squad that’s still finding its footing in the division, there’s one player who’s already shown he can make a difference.

Juan Antonio.

He was decisive against Sevilla Atlético, scoring two goals that gave Central its second league victory.

In that match, the Seville-based team found a way to turn its chances into points.

And that’s what it needs to do again.

Central has already shown that it can be dangerous when it finds open spaces and manages to drive its attacks into the box.

It has also shown that, when it fails to convert, it can end up paying dearly for its mistakes.

Estepona will have to strike the right balance.

It’s not enough to just look at the opponent’s results.

You have to understand which games they’ve won, which they’ve lost, and what problems they’ve faced in each one.

The 2-0 win over Sevilla Atlético showed that Central can compete against top-tier teams.

The 0-1 loss to Linares made it clear that they still struggle to close out certain matches.

Estepona’s goal must be to force them to play outside their comfort zone and capitalize on any opportunities that arise.

A newly promoted team that’s still learning

The situation at Atlético Central goes beyond just the points.

The team is adapting to a new division.

It has brought in numerous new players.

It needs to develop a fluid style of play.

And it must learn to compete against opponents who are well-acquainted with the demands of the Second Federation.

The early results have shown two sides to the team.

On one hand, the ability to beat Recreativo and Sevilla Atlético.

On the other, the struggles to maintain consistency against Tenerife, Marbella, and Linares.

It’s normal for a newly promoted team to need time to find its balance.

But the season waits for no one.

And every matchday demands decisions.

El Central arrives in Estepona needing to regain its momentum.

Estepona, meanwhile, has the opportunity to capitalize on that moment.

That doesn’t mean the match is decided before it even begins.

It means that Manolo Sánchez’s team must know how to read the situation before them.

Because games in this division aren’t won by big names alone.

They’re won by competing.

And, above all, by capitalizing on the moments when the opponent presents an opportunity.

Estepona Needs to Find Consistency

There’s a pattern starting to emerge early in the season.

Estepona has had competitive moments.

They managed to win in Puente Genil.

They had some promising stretches in Tenerife, even though they ended up losing.

And against Don Benito, they showed they can dominate at home.

The problem is that they still need to string those positive performances together.

Soccer doesn’t care about promises.

It cares about points.

And points come when a team manages to maintain its level of play for more than just one game.

Manolo Sánchez knows this reality well.

Last season, he took over the team in a difficult situation and ended up leading them to avoid relegation.

That experience taught him an important lesson: seasons are built week by week.

It’s not enough to react when things go wrong.

You have to learn how to prevent them from going wrong again.

This Sunday presents an opportunity to take that step.

A win would allow Estepona to string together two consecutive victories.

And, beyond the standings, it would serve to confirm that the team is beginning to find some consistency.

It wouldn’t be a guarantee of anything.

But it would be a sign.

And signs, when a season has just begun, matter too.

The Muñoz Pérez Stadium and the Importance of Feeling at Home

The victory over Don Benito allowed Estepona to regain something it needed.

Celebrating in front of its fans.

The team won at home again.

And the stadium was able to enjoy an afternoon it had been waiting for several matchdays.

Now it’s time to do it again.

The Muñoz Pérez can’t just be the place where home games are played.

It has to become a competitive advantage.

A field where the opponent knows every point is hard-earned.

A place where Estepona finds the momentum it needs in tough moments.

And a setting where the fans feel their presence matters.

The season is long.

There will be good afternoons and tough ones.

But teams that aspire to build something need to learn to make the most of their home games.

Sunday is a new opportunity.

And it comes at an interesting time.

Because Estepona has already shown that it can win at the Muñoz Pérez.

Now they must prove they can do it again.

Soccer Can Also Look Beyond the Score

This matchday will also have a special significance for the city.

CD Estepona and the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) in Estepona have launched a charity campaign to mark International Breast Cancer Awareness Day, observed on October 19.

The club has unveiled a charity jersey, with all proceeds going to the AECC in Estepona.

The initiative will also be visible on the field.

This Sunday, the association will take the honorary kickoff at the Muñoz Pérez Stadium.

The campaign will continue next week, when the Estepona players will take the field at the Dama de Noche stadium wearing the commemorative jersey before their match against Marbella FC.

They will then change into their official uniforms to play the match.

This is an initiative that deserves to be highlighted.

Because a soccer club is part of a community.

Because it represents a city.

And because there are causes that deserve visibility far beyond the ninety minutes.

On Sunday, the Muñoz Pérez Stadium will host soccer.

But it will also feature a spotlight on a cause that affects thousands of people and families.

And that deserves its place in the pre-match coverage.

A match that demands focus from the start

Atlético Central is coming off a loss.

That could turn the match into an opportunity for Estepona.

But it could also make it more dangerous.

A team that needs to bounce back usually comes out determined to prove that its last result doesn’t reflect its true level.

Central has already shown it can beat top-tier opponents.

And it wouldn’t be surprising if they tried to regain—right from the start—the initiative they lacked against Linares.

Estepona will have to be prepared.

Don’t give up ground.

Don’t concede unnecessary chances.

And don’t mistake the opponent’s desperation for a supposed weakness.

The match will demand concentration.

And patience, too.

Because if Central manages to keep the match close, they may find their chance.

And because Estepona needs to prove it knows how to manage the different phases of a game.

The victory against Don Benito was important.

But now it’s time to start over.

Last Saturday’s three points won’t be on the field this Sunday.

We’ll have to earn them all over again.

Sunday. 7:00 p.m. Muñoz Pérez.

Estepona comes in off a much-needed victory.

Atlético Central, off a loss they want to put behind them.

One team is looking for consistency.

The other, a comeback.

The red-and-white squad has the chance to secure its second consecutive victory and build on the positive momentum regained against Don Benito.

The Seville-based team will try to prove that its two opening wins weren’t a fluke and that it can compete consistently in the Second Federation.

It won’t be an easy match.

Nor does it have to be.

Because every matchday tells a different story.

And because soccer doesn’t care about what happened seven days ago.

It’s all about what happens when the referee blows the whistle to start the game.

On Sunday, Estepona plays at home again.

In front of their fans.

With three crucial points on the line.

And with the chance to turn a victory into the start of something more.

Muñoz Pérez has already celebrated again.

Now he wants to do it again.

And Estepona has ninety minutes to prove it’s ready.

Because winning once is important.

But starting to win consistently can change a season.
