CD Estepona's youth academy experienced a weekend of contrasting fortunes at El Ciprés. The Juvenil A team secured a resounding 4-1 victory against CD Rincón, while the reserve team suffered a 1-2 defeat against CD Pizarra Atlético in the seventh round of their respective competitions.
CD Estepona's youth teams faced two important matches at El Ciprés Stadium over the weekend of October 24th and 25th. The Juvenil A team confirmed their improvement with another victory, while the reserve team once again came away empty-handed in a close match decided by small margins.

CD Estepona's reserve team loses to CD Pizarra Atlético (1-2)

CD Estepona's reserve team failed to secure any points in the seventh round of the Málaga Senior First Division, losing 1-2 to CD Pizarra Atlético. The home side took an early lead, but the visitors rallied to claim all three points at El Ciprés.

Raúl Baldanza puts the reserve team ahead, but Pizarra comes back to win.

The match began evenly, with both teams having chances to take the lead. In the 22nd minute, Raúl Baldanza capitalized on a cross to send the ball into the back of the net and make it 1-0. The striker thus scored in his second consecutive match.
However, the home side's lead lasted just nine minutes. In the 31st minute, Francisco López capitalized on a set piece to equalize and level the score.
After the break, CD Pizarra Atlético struck again from another set piece. David Sánchez scored in the 58th minute, completing the visitors' comeback.
The reserve team tried to respond and had chances to change the outcome of the match. Both teams were evenly matched in terms of opportunities, but Estepona's lack of accuracy ultimately proved costly. In the final minutes, the home side threw everything forward in search of an equalizer, but they couldn't find the back of the net.
The match was also marked by numerous cautions. Yellow cards were shown to David Pomares, David Sánchez, Alejandro Zotano, Álvaro Alcón, Álvaro González, Mario Garrido, Iván Gallardo, Ángel Cazorla, and Juan Andrés Ramos. Furthermore, the visiting coach, Alberto Franco, was sent off with a red card in the 89th minute.

A team in search of finding its best version

The reserve team continues working to find consistency in a demanding competition. Although the team competes and creates chances, the results haven't gone as expected.
The squad includes young players who are still developing and adapting to the league. In this context, mistakes are part of the learning process and should be used to correct aspects of the game and continue growing.
The reserve team also fulfills an important function as a development tool for the first team, a circumstance that conditions its approach against other teams in the category that may have different sporting objectives.
The match against Pizarra once again demonstrated that small details can make all the difference. The team had opportunities but failed to capitalize on them, while the visitors took full advantage of their set pieces.

The reserve team is thirteenth with seven points

After the seventh round, CD Estepona's reserve team occupies the thirteenth position in the standings of the First Andalusian Senior League of Malaga, with seven points and a record of two wins, one draw and four losses.
The next match will be away against Cártama, a rival that is in third position with 14 points, after adding four wins, two draws and one loss.
It will be a demanding away game for Estepona, who will have to improve their finishing and minimize mistakes to try and get a positive result against one of the top-ranked teams.

CD Estepona's Juvenil A team thrashed CD Rincón (4-1)

The positive note of the weekend came from the Juvenil A team, who beat CD Rincón 4-1 in the seventh round of the Second Andalusian Youth League of Malaga.
The team led by Carlos García confirmed their improvement with a performance that allowed them to add three important points and extend the good feelings of the last few days.

Melero, De Hoyos, Alberto and Aarón secure the victory

Juvenil A started the match with intensity and found their reward in the 20th minute. Samuel Melero put the home side ahead with a great finish after a move down the wing, culminating the play with a first-time shot.
CD Rincón's reaction was immediate. Just two minutes later, Rodrigo De Micheo made it 1-1, leveling the score.
The match took a significant turn in the 28th minute when the visiting team was reduced to ten men after Rodrigo De Micheo was sent off. He received a red card for striking Josito in the chest.
Juvenil A took advantage of their numerical superiority before halftime. In the 39th minute, Jesús de Hoyos put Estepona ahead again with a shot from the edge of the area that he placed near the far post of the opposing goalkeeper.
After the break, the home team maintained their lead and secured the victory in the final stages of the match.
In the 68th minute, Alberto Neila capitalized on a corner kick to extend the lead. Four minutes later, in the 72nd, Aarón Infantes sealed the victory with the final score of 4-1, arriving at the far post to finish the play.
The match concluded with a convincing victory for Juvenil A, who knew how to take advantage of their opportunities and manage the lead to add three important points.
During the match, José Carlos Bustamante was cautioned in the 18th minute for protesting, while David Fernández received a yellow card in the 79th minute for stopping a promising attack.

Two wins and a draw in the last few matches

The Juvenil A team is experiencing a positive run of form after a difficult start to the season. Having drawn in Vélez-Málaga, they have since strung together two victories, results that reflect an improvement in their play and the confidence of their players.
The improvement isn't limited to results. The team is showing greater confidence on the ball, better combinations, and a more cheerful attitude both in training and in matches.
The confidence gained in recent matches is helping the players enjoy themselves more on the pitch and make better decisions. However, there are still aspects of their game, both tactical and individual, that need improvement.
The aim is also to develop players capable of making the leap to the reserve team and, in the future, to the first team. There are between six and seven first-year players in the squad, so individual development and patience are important factors within the project.
The league presents added challenges, with smaller pitches and matches where adapting to the game's circumstances is crucial. Therefore, the team must continue working hard to maintain the progress shown in recent weeks.

Juvenil A, ninth with eight points

With this victory, the Juvenil A team reaches eight points and moves into ninth place in the Málaga Second Andalusian Youth League. Their record after seven matches is two wins, two draws, and three losses.
The Estepona team will have a bye next weekend due to the league break. Their next league match will be away against CD Tiro Pichón, scheduled for November 7th or 8th, although the exact date is still to be confirmed.
The Malaga rival currently occupies seventh position with 11 points, the result of three wins, two draws and two losses.
The break will allow the team to continue working and preparing for another demanding outing with the aim of extending their good run and continuing to climb positions in the standings.

A weekend of contrasts for the CD Estepona youth academy

The results of this seventh matchday leave two teams with different feelings. The reserve team will have to continue searching for solutions to convert their chances into points and gain consistency, while the Juvenil A team will go into their bye week with their confidence boosted by two consecutive victories.
Both teams share the challenge of continuing to grow and develop players for the future of CD Estepona. The path requires hard work, patience, and the ability to learn from every match, both victories and defeats.
