CD Estepona continues to build its roster for the 2026/27 season with the signing of Álvaro Muñoz-Yuste Coronado, a 25-year-old Madrid native who can play both as a central defender and a defensive midfielder.
The new Rojillo player arrives from Ourense CF, where he played last season in Primera Federación, and signs with the Estepona team after having played three consecutive seasons in the third tier of Spanish soccer.
Yuste had been without a team since July 1, once his contract with Ourense ended, so he joins CD Estepona as a free agent. Transfermarkt estimates his market value at 200,000 euros as of June 2026.

Three Consecutive Seasons in Primera Federación
One of the main reasons for signing Álvaro Yuste is his recent experience in a division higher than the one in which CD Estepona will compete.
The player has competed for the past three seasons in the Primera Federación, representing UD Melilla, SD Amorebieta, and Ourense CF.
According to data from BDFutbol, over those three seasons he has accumulated 91 league matches, 65 starts, and 5,964 minutes in Primera Federación.
His career in the division began in the 2023–24 season with UD Melilla, where he played 25 league matches, made 20 starts, and logged 1,748 minutes.
Later, during the 2024/25 season with SD Amorebieta, he enjoyed his most consistent campaign: he played in 36 league matches, 31 of them as a starter, accumulating 2,783 minutes.
Last season, he played for Ourense CF, appearing in 30 Primera Federación matches—14 as a starter—and logging 1,433 minutes and one league goal, according to BDFutbol.

A Versatile Player for Julen Guerrero
One of the most interesting aspects of CD Estepona’s new signing is his versatility.
Although some databases currently list him primarily as a central midfielder, he is also categorized as a center back—a position in which he has spent much of his career. Transfermarkt lists him as a central midfielder, with center back as his secondary position, while La Preferente lists him as a center back.
This is not merely a theoretical possibility. During his time in the Primera Federación, he has played both roles, which gives Julen Guerrero another option for building the team.
Yuste’s profile—a right-footed player standing 1.85 meters tall—allows CD Estepona to add a player capable of contributing both on the defensive line and in midfield.

Last season: 34 games and four goals according to overall records
The 2025–26 season saw Yuste take on a different role than the one he had played at Amorebieta.
In the Primera Federación, BDFutbol records 30 matches, 14 starts, 1,433 minutes, and one goal. When all competitions are taken into account, different statistical sources provide varying figures depending on which matches are counted. The Preferente division, for example, credits him with 37 matches, 18 starts, 1,933 minutes, and four goals for the entire season.
Therefore, the figure of 34 games and four goals should be understood as a tally of official matches used to summarize his season.
Beyond the difference between statistical databases, one thing is clear: Yuste played in both the Primera Federación and the Cup competitions during his final season at Ourense*.

A Standout in the Copa del Rey
It was precisely in the knockout competitions that he experienced some of his most memorable moments of the season.
Ourense CF won the 2025/26 Copa Federación, a competition in which Yuste participated. BDFutbol lists this title among his honors.
In addition, the player played a key role in the Copa del Rey, a competition in which Ourense pulled off one of the season’s biggest upsets by eliminating Girona FC.
His physical profile could also be an asset for CD Estepona on set pieces, especially given his ability to get into the box.

Trained at Atlético de Madrid and Deportivo
Álvaro Yuste also has experience in the youth academies of First Division clubs.
The player came up through the ranks at Atlético de Madrid and Deportivo de La Coruña before making the definitive leap to senior soccer.
He later played for Alcorcón B, where he began to accumulate significant playing time in national leagues and became an integral part of the first team’s rotation.
From there, he began his journey through the Primera Federación with UD Melilla, SD Amorebieta, and Ourense CF, establishing himself in the division for three consecutive seasons.

Reunion with Caro
Yuste’s signing also marks a reunion in the CD Estepona locker room.
The new Rojillo player played alongside José Antonio Caro during his time at UD Melilla in the 2023–24 season.
The two shared a locker room during that Primera Federación campaign. In fact, they appeared together in various lineups for the Melilla team throughout that season.
Yuste’s arrival will therefore allow them to rekindle a connection that already existed in Melilla and will now continue in Estepona.

An Experienced Signing for the Second Federation
With this addition, CD Estepona brings to its roster a player who offers proven experience in the First Federation, as well as versatility to cover two positions.
His recent career includes three consecutive seasons in the third tier of Spanish soccer, with particular consistency during his time at Amorebieta.
The reduced playing time he experienced at Ourense last season is one factor to consider, although his participation in cup competitions and his accumulated experience make him an interesting fit for the Rojillo project.
The goal now is for Yuste to bring that experience to Segunda Federación, where CD Estepona will aim to compete for its objectives during the 2026/27 season.

Two Senior Roster Spots Still Available
The arrival of Álvaro Yuste does not mark the end of the transfer window for CD Estepona.
The Estepona team still has two open senior roster spots, so new signings could take place before the transfer window closes.
With Yuste, the sports management continues to strengthen a roster that aims to combine players with experience in higher divisions with players capable of contributing to the project in the Second Federation.
