The fourth episode of the second season of the Club Deportivo Estepona podcast is now available and features two guests: Ale Contreras, midfielder for the first team, and Carlos García, coach of the Juvenil A team. During the interview, conducted by Álvaro Carrasco, they discuss the current state of their respective teams, analyze their latest matches, and explain how things work within the club.

Ale Contreras: confidence, prominence and ambition

The CD Estepona midfielder reviewed the goalless draw against Marbella FC in the Costa del Sol derby of the seventh matchday of Group IV of the Second Division. Ale acknowledged that the Estepona side had enough opportunities to take the victory, especially during the first half, in which they had several clear chances to take the lead.
Despite the draw, the footballer highlighted the support of the fans who traveled to Marbella, saying that they felt "more at home than ever" thanks to the atmosphere created by the red-and-white supporters.
On a personal level, Contreras explained his progress since last season, when he struggled to find consistent playing time after moving up to senior football. The arrival of Manolo Sánchez proved crucial in helping him regain his starting position, thanks to the confidence shown in him by the coach and a playing style that suits his strengths.
The midfielder also spoke positively about his current physical condition and emphasized the importance of consistency to perform at his best. Regarding his individual goals, he stated that he prefers to focus on how he feels and his performance on the pitch rather than obsessing over specific numbers of goals or assists.
Regarding the upcoming league match, Ale acknowledged the difficulty of the game against Ciudad de Lucena, a team that was on a positive run. However, he made it clear that the team would maintain its playing style and its commitment to pressing high up the pitch and attacking the opposition's goal.
Finally, the player wanted to thank the fans for their support, whom he considers fundamental to the team: he emphasized that the players feel their support on the field and encouraged them to continue in the same vein.

Carlos García: the victory of the Juvenil A team and the growth of the youth academy

The second part of the program featured Carlos García, coach of the Juvenil A team of CD Estepona, who analyzed the 1-0 victory against AD Malaka CF, a particularly important win after a start to the season in which the results had not reflected the work done during training.
The manager acknowledged that the team had created numerous chances in previous matches without managing to convert that dominance into victories. Therefore, the goal scored in the final minutes was a relief for the squad and coaching staff, as well as a morale boost for the upcoming fixtures.
García highlighted his players' ability to manage their nerves and maintain patience until they found their reward. He also praised the unity within the locker room and the team's confidence in their playing style, convinced that their weekly work will eventually pay off.
One of the highlights of the interview was the team's adaptation to the El Ciprés pitch, the youth academy's new regular training facility. The coach explained that its dimensions and characteristics favor the Juvenil A's style of play, which is based on possession, finding space, and creating scoring opportunities.

An increasingly professionalized youth academy

Carlos García also discussed the working structure of CD Estepona's youth academy and the improvements implemented this season. The coach emphasized the importance of coordination between the club's different teams and the intention to maintain a consistent approach with the first team.
Among the available tools, he highlighted the video analysis work, which allows recording matches, studying collective actions and reviewing individual plays to correct errors and help footballers improve their performance.
He also explained that the Juvenil A squad has undergone numerous changes compared to the previous season, so one of the main objectives has been to integrate the new players and ensure that everyone understands the playing style.
Regarding sporting goals, García defended the importance of focusing on the next match, seeking continuous improvement, and preparing the players so that, when the opportunity arises, they can make the leap to the reserve team or the first team.
The coach also highlighted the monitoring they receive from different members of the club's sports structure, a coordination he considers fundamental for the growth of young footballers.
